How to support anxious children in Primary School settings

This talk for educators provides participants with an overview of the impact of anxiety in the lives of young children, both physically and emotionally. It offers practical advice on how to support anxious children in primary school settings, helping them to manage their fears and gain confidence.
Dr Mary O'Kane is a Lecturer in Psychology, Early Childhood Studies and Education with the Open Univesity. Her research interests include childhood transitions; self esteem and wellbeing, and the value of play. Mary is a regular contributor to Newstalk Radio; RTE Drivetime, and a range of other national and local radio shows discussing a broad range of parenting issues. She is the author of two books for parents, carers and educators: Perfectly Imperfect Parenting: Connection not Perfection and Anxious Children in an Anxious World: Facing Fears and Finding Brave.
