Sligo FRC in collaboration with Sligo Education Centre organised this information evening. Dr Ann Marie Casserley will speak to parents to share information and plan initiatives.

Ann Marie Casserly is a lecturer in Special Education and researcher in CSENID. She is a graduate of Queens University Belfast with a PhD in Education, a MA (Education) from St. Angela’s College/University of Wales, MSc in Applied Psychology from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and also a B.Ed in primary teaching from DCU, formally St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra. She also holds a post-graduate Diploma in Remedial Education (MIC, Limerick) and a post-graduate Certificate in Training and Facilitation (St. Angela’s College-NUIG). Previously, Ann Marie worked as a primary teacher and Co-ordinator of the Post Graduate Diploma in Learning Support (Mary Immaculate College, Limerick). She is currently the Co-Director of the BAPME 1-5 and is currently on leave from her role as Programme Co-ordinator of the DES funded Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education. Other teaching and co-ordination roles include Module Leader SLD 1 and SLD 2 for Professional Studies in SEN, Module Leader of Assessment on PGSE, Coordinator of PGSE Special School Visits/PGSE Placements, Co-ordinator of Annual Principals’ Seminar, Tutor on Micro-teaching, School Placement (PME) and Practicum [PGSE, PGSEN (ASD)], Lecturing on the PGSEN (ASD), PGSE, PSSEN, MA SEN, MASEN-ASD, MA SLD, MA (Generic Programme), BA-PME programmes, Supervisor of MA SEN-ASD, MA SEN, MA PSSEN, MA SLD, MA dissertations. She is also currently involved in the academic and professional accreditation of initial teacher education programmes. She has engaged in extensive research and secured research funding from NCSE, DES, SCoTENS, Merici Funding, etc. She has published more than 60 papers in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
