Shane Martin is a psychologist dedicated to teaching the very best evidence-based psychology to help people protect their mental health and enhance the quality of their lives.
Shane shares stories and humour, mixing them with evidence-based psychology. People have enjoyed and felt uplifted by them. The audience tend to see themselves in the stories and key messages around well-being ‘land’ with them through the humour.
This talk on Positive Partenting - Fostering more happiness and resilience in young people and self care for parents will explore a number of themes. Parenting has never been easy, and it can seem more daunting than ever before. The world is undoubtedly a more complex place, and we are living in an era of information overload. Anxiety rates are increasing, and young people are under more pressure. It is easy to convince ourselves that we have no influence at all.
The truth is that you have more influence than you realise. It is the subtle influences that can have a more profound positive impact. It is the simple things that make the difference. We have to rise to the challenges of parenting. Shane will explore five key themes and offer scientifically validated strategies that parents can apply to positively influence their children.
