Rainbows is a nine-week programme for children aged 7-12 years of age to talk about parental separation or bereavement with other children and facilitated by adults.
It is an opportunity for children to express their feelings with other children in a safe space through a number of structured activities.The experience of attending a support group, like Rainbows, with other children of similar age and loss experiences can help children realise and understand that they are “not the only one”. The relief and understanding that comes for children meeting others in the same situation can be very reassuring and supportive for a child.
