INTRODUCTION to solids for your baby

The solid start programme is a free education programme provided by Public Health Nurses to parents when their baby is aged between 4-6months.
This programme involves education to parents on the importance of a healthy diet and the different stages of weaning for their baby onto family foods.
The solid start team are asking you to advise and encourage parents to attend this class which takes approximately 1 hour. Most classes are organised at a time to suit parents lifestyle.
Each class is interactive and practical. The content of the class is researched based and endorsed by the community dietician team.
The outcome for children, parents and health professionals is a reduction of obesity in children and into adulthood. This will lead to cost savings in line with reduced hospital admissions, reduced primary care referrals and also the reduction in the incidence of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
